new year 2010

Can you believe that when you wake up tomorrow it will be 2010!!!
Remember the hoopla of Y2K?

Yikes! I do! Every one was sure that the world was going to end…yet here we are starting the end of the 1st decade…amazing!

I thought it would be fun to look back on 2009 and revisit some of favorite reviews, photographs, features and articles.

During this year…I have created and posted over 2000 articles and today I gave myself the task of narrowing down my favorites. I am sure your favorites may be different but for various reasons…these are my favorites from 2009! I did not have the energy or the heart to put them in any particular order. They are randomly listed.

I have had the honor and privilege to work with some of the greatest companies, PR firms, literary publicists, publishing houses, social media forums and sales personal that exist. I am deeply grateful for a fantastic year for the IE Mommy.

So….”CHEERS and Thanks” to everyone….you guys ROCK!

Happy 2010!!

Christine

Karito Kids®  – Piper™ Travels to Ireland

Piper™ from Australia loves surfing, and working on her country’s famous Bondi Beach as a “Nipper” or junior surf lifesaver. She’s passionate about saving Australia’s famous reefs. She encourages others to be a “Greenie,” by taking small steps, like skipping bottled water and using the recycling bin.KaritoKids_Travel_Charmer_Piper_goes_to_Ireland

Piper loves to travel, and says her trips to visit Australia’s Great Barrier Reef are her best memories. She feels especially lucky when her travel agent Mum lands the family a trip to Ireland! Piper’s “too great to count” grandfather came to Australia from the “Emerald Isle” a long, long time ago.

Even though it took 24 hours to fly from Sydney to Dublin, the Irish people made Piper and her family feel right at home. They enjoyed catching a show, seeing the sights from a bicycle and dancing a jig in their flip flops.

Each year, Piper and the other Karito Kids® International Travel Charmers® explore a new country and wear fashions inspired by their trip. Piper keeps warm in the damp Irish weather with a fuzzy green sweater, a pink plaid skirt and tall boots.

Karito Kids®  2009 International Travel Charmers®

Multicultural Karito Kids® dolls (www.karitokids.com) go on educational visits to new places each year as Karito Kids International Travel Charmers®. About the Company

Karito Kids started with a simple goal: to help Kids Give. Children around the world want to aid others, and they share similar hopes and dreams despite their differences. In 2007, this philosophy inspired the founding of KidsGive and its multicultural line of dolls and books, Karito Kids. The name Karito [`ka-ree`-toe], meaning charity and love of one’s neighbor, comes from the constructed international language, Esperanto. A portion of every Karito Kids purchase supports children’s humanitarian projects worldwide. The company’s core commitments to charity and global awareness have attracted industry and media attention, resulting in dozens of prestigious awards, including the #1 Toy of the Year. Learn more about the Karito Kids line of books and dolls at www.karitokids.com. Visit the KidsGive® website at www.kidsgive.com to find out more about the Los Angeles-based company and the causes funded by every Karito Kids purchase.

Karito Kids – Lulu Travels to Egypt

Karito Kids®  – Lulu™ Travels to Egypt

Lulu™ from Kenya loves football (she doesn’t understand why people in North America call it soccer) and the wild animals that make her country famous. She’s a cast member on KenyaKidz, a popular children’s TV show, so she gets to talk about football a lot! Scooooore! Karito Kids_Travel Charmer_Lulu_Goes_to_Egypt

Lulu’s got a vivid imagination – when her mom catches her daydreaming, she teases her about going to “Lulu Land.” So when an Egyptian archeologist did an interview on KenyaKidz, Lulu started dreaming about adventures on the Nile River. Brilliant!

Luckily, the archeologist invited Lulu and her family to Egypt. They visited the Nile, which is the world’s longest river. Lulu got to dream about the life of an Egyptian Royal when they saw the famous pyramids at Giza, built as tombs to the rulers or Pharaohs.

Each year, Lulu and the other Karito Kids® International Travel Charmers® explore a new country. After travelling to the tropical island nation of Madagascar in 2008, Lulu visits Egypt in 2009. She does look a bit like an Egyptian queen in her gold-collared dress and lace-up sandals, don’t you think?

Karito Kids®  – Zoe™ Travels to England

Zoe™ loves everything about New York: Broadway shows, ice skating in Central Park, even the crazy cab drivers. She got really worried when it looked like she and her mom would have to leave Greenwich Village and move to Utica…yuck! Luckily, Zoe saved the day by solving a famous mystery, allowing mother and daughter to stay permanently in the Big Apple. Karito Kids_Travel Charmer_Zoe_Goes_to_England

Some people think New York is too big and impersonal, but Zoe makes friends wherever she goes. She likes that people call the “Big Apple” a melting pot…because of all the different cultures, languages and religions that come together in her city. Zoe expresses herself by composing her own music and creating her own personal style. She also makes up her own words – like “fabulicious” for her recent trip to England.

Each year, Zoe and the other Karito Kids® International Travel Charmers® explore a new country. After going to Canada in 2008, Zoe visits England in 2009. This fashion lover salutes the sixties with a flowy purple top and fun flared pants.

Zoe couldn’t believe the grooviness in England. She visited the famous places like Big Ben, a giant clock tower. She also got to experience all of the cool vintage clothing stores in London and go to the Beatles’ hometown, Liverpool!

Karito Kids® – Wan Ling™ Travels to Russia

She loves pandas more than anything and hopes to be a scientist who studies them, just like her Papa. Ling (short for Wan Ling) spends time with her father at Shanghai Zoo’s Panda Lab every WanLing_Solo_1_015_EOWIP4chance she gets, even if the Zoo Director disapproves. Things were easier when her family lived in Chengdu.

Ling is learning to adjust to life in a large, bustling city where it’s harder to make new friends and everyone speaks a dialect called Shanghainese outside of the classroom. She’s meeting other kids, but pandas Liang Liang and Chow are her favorite companions.

Even though she adores travel, she has a hard time leaving her Panda or xiongmao friends to join her father on a trip to Russia. Each year, Ling and the other Karito Kids® International Travel Charmers™ visit a new country. After an amazing trip to Japan in 2008, Ling visits Russia in 2009. She wears a stylish coat with fuzzy trim and matching boots to help keep her warm in the freezing Russian weather.

Where did Ling and her Papa go when they arrived in Moscow? The zoo, of course! Ling got to see the beautiful Siberian Tiger, the largest cat in the whole world. Just like pandas, Siberian Tigers are very rare. Ling hopes the ideas her Papa shared about saving endangered animals help make sure the big cats are around for a long time.
