My Thoughts

Pout-Pout Fish is an adorable audio book that is perfect for the preschool-kindergarten set. My girls are 8 and they enjoyed the book…because they fell in love the illustrations of the charming and lovable little Pout-Pout fish.

Throughout the story the Pout-Pout Fish “thinks” there is so much he can do…because he is only a little Pout-Pout fish and all he can do is…well, pout.  When a new friend comes along and see him in a completely different light…Pout-Pout  decides to change his view on life and even his name!

This book is definitely a keeper and a fun distraction during those long car rides or the million “why” questions we sometimes hear as we are driving with our kids.

Pick it up and you’ll discover that life sometimes really is all about perspective.

My Thoughts

When I was given the opportunity to review the Kidz Bop Ultimate Hits CD, I really had never heard of the group. I was sitting with my 15 year old granddaughter when we saw the picture of the CD. She started bouncing around and singing. I looked at her and said ,“do you know who Kidz Bop are?” She said “I loved listening to them when I was younger.” Although I am not a big fan of Pop music, I decided to give it a review and listen to it with her.

I found myself getting into the beat of the music and singing when the song “Dynamite” started playing. Wow I knew one of these songs! I guess the Kidz Bop was a CD for not only young listeners, but for Grandmas too. I really like that the radio version of these songs became kid friendly and I don’t have to worry about the language when the kids listen to the music.

Even though my granddaughter is a teenager, she really was excited to have the CD and listen to it again like she did as a kid! (She just didn’t want anyone to know…so let’s keep it our little secret, shall we?).

My Thoughts

The Wild Thornberrys is a Nickelodeon cartoon from the late 1990’s that follows the Thornberry family as they travel around the world looking for rare animals to film. The main character, Eliza Thornberry, has the power to speak to animals after meeting a shaman. Eliza also has a monkey that is her best friend.

My daughter and I watched The Wild Thornberrys Season Two 2-Disc DVD set recently and she truly loved every minute! It wasn’t very long after watching the DVDs three times in a row that I found her upstairs in her room recreating the episodes with her stuffed animals and kid sister.

The 2-Disc set covers the second half of season two of the Wild Thornberrys. Each disc contains four episodes. Disc one has Two’s Company, Show Me The Bunny, Reef Grief, and Thornberry Island. The second disc contains Dances with Dingos, Tamper-Proof Seal, You Otter Know, and Have Yourself a Thornberry Little Christmas.

I was really entertained by the Wild Thornberrys. When they were originally played on Nickelodeon I didn’t have children at the time, so I was fun to watch the episodes I had not previously seen. The shows were perfectly written for my seven year old daughter. While I think they may have been a bit above my two year old’s head, I did hear her in the room laughing along with her older sister. This CD is definitely an added bonus to my family’s collection!

Little Angels 123’s was a great DVD to watch with my 3-year old grandson.  The DVD brought new ways to teach counting and bible stories at the same time.  The little, happy, singing angels bring fun and excitement to the segments.

I think the DVD would be great used in a  Sunday school setting as well.   Our kids at church watch a series that uses the same idea for teaching.  First it is cartoon characters that go into bible characters.

I found my grandson up off the couch wanting to get closer to interact with the little angels.  Just about the time that my little guy started to get a little restless with the DVD, the characters would change back to the angels to get his attention back.

Finding a series of DVD’s that are both educational and Christian based can be challenging.  Watching the Little Angels 123’s DVD has inspired me to go out and purchase more of the DVD’s to share with my other young grandchildren.  This series would be a wonderful, education and wise addition to your DVD collection.

Rascal Flatts is one of those groups that I haven’t really been into or following but noticed that every time I asked “Who sings this song”? The answer seem to pop up Rascal Flatts more often then any other name. Then I started to notice these guys on all types of favorite shows…most recently Dancing with The Stars.

Seriously? What was I missing? When the opportunity to review their newest CD, Changed, showed up in my mailbox I knew this was my chance to really to get to know who and what made up Rascal Flatts.

Now I understand the buzz around these guys. What a great combination of country, rock and a little bit of everything else. Why label it. They are just good. There is a lot of joy in my car when we are listening to this CD.

The first track and CD namesake, Changed, became my favorite after a couple of times…took me a few tries to listen carefully to the lyrics. Once I did, I was sold. The voices are rich, full of emotion and romantic.

If you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Rascal Flatts and are wondering “What’s the big deal”? (Like I was) then get a copy of Changed and you’ll understand immediately!
