The IE Daddy, the IE Twins and I were driving along on the freeway happily snacking on Chick-Fil-A…

IE Daddy: “Girls, be very careful eating in the car. It’s the only one we have”.
IE Twins: “Ok, daddy”

We drive for a few minutes when we hear a lot of stiffled giggling…

IE Daddy: Girls, don’t play around with your food in the car. You are going to spill something.  Remember…It’s the only car we have.

There is dead silence from the back seat.

Skylar: “Uh-oh!”
IE Daddy: “What?”
Skylar: “Rylan was trying to do a trick and she spilled all her french fries.”
IE Daddy: “Rylan, what part of “It’s the only car we have” don’t you understand?”

Rylan: “Only!”

Mommy: What did you girls learn in “Jesus” school today (aka kid’s church)?
Rylan: Oh we studied Matthew 7.
Skylar: No, it was Matthew 17
Rylan: Whatever…anyway it said that Jesus was in Jerusalem and New Jersey!

Did someone say brownies? Oh yeah!! You bet we did and you are going to love them!!

The twins received the Perfect Brownie Pan for Christmas and they could not wait to try it out!

Sometimes as a mom…you are privileged to see how little hearts and minds work.

This year my girls proudly bought each and every family member a gift. We sat down and made a list. They tried hard not to forget anyone. From grandmothers to baby cousins…everyone on the list was covered.

Off we went to the .99 cent store and they diligently spent their money. List in one hand, pencil in another and armed with a shopping cart. All in all it took about 2 hours to get everything  purchased.

I noticed that as we were shopping…they would stop every so often, speak to each other in hushed tones and then either put in or take out something from their basket.

They wouldn’t tell me what they were doing and when I asked about it…I was told…“Shh, it’s for the Mystery Girl”. I had to giggle because I knew all too well the Mystery Girl was me. They tried so hard to be sly. Every time they talked about the Mystery Girl it was in hushed tones.

On Christmas morning…they proudly offered two of the most, loved treasured gifts I will ever receive. They explained (as if I didn’t already know) that “I” was the Mystery Girl. Being the good mom I ooh’d and aahh’d and acted shocked and amazed that they had tricked me and I that I had no clue (wink, wink).

My heart was blessed. They wanted to make sure that I was on the list. They wanted to make sure it was a surprise and that mommy wasn’t forgotten.  My heart was full of love. My little girls are growing up. I can see they are growing up with a generous heart. It makes me smile, proud and teary eyed all at the same time.

So what where my gifts?

1 pair of granny style floral panties and 1 pair of granny style white satin panties.

I have since learned they don’t like my boy-shorts style of underwear….Oh, well, so much for the moment!

Welcome to my world….

IE Mommy to IE Daddy:  I am not going to drink Monster drinks anymore..ever!!

IE Daddy:  Why?

IE Mommy:  I drank one today and it made me really jittery and gave me a massive headache. I feel like I am going to throw up. That’s it. No more!

Rylan (listening from the back seat):  Good Mama! They are very bad for you. Lots of sugar and caffeine.

IE Mommy: You’re right Rylan. I promise I won’t drink one again

Rylan:  Good! But,  if you do…and you don’t listen…and choose to disobey there will be consequences. (Wonder where she gets that line from?)

IE Mommy (stifling a gigle): Ok, what would be my consequences?

Rylan: Hmm….if you drink a Monster. You have to give us a piece of your jewlery f-o-r-e-v-e-r!

IE Mommy:  Wow, that’s pretty steep. But what if I say like you do…”I couldn’t help myself, my bad side of brain made me do it?”. What if I act like you act Rylan, then what?

Rylan: Doesn’t matter. You know how to choose right from wrong and you’ll give us a piece of jewelry.

IE Mommy: Ok, then what do you give me if you don’t listen?

Skylar: hmmm…yeah Rylan…what are we going to give Mom? It’s only fair.

IE Mommy: I know! You can give me a Build A Bear Worshop animal everytime you don’t listen.

Skylar: Ok, mama..that sounds fair. An animal from us and jewelry from you. Deal!

Rylan: Oh! Ok……you can drink a Monster whenever you feel like it! We don’t want your jewelry.

Ok, so we don’t have a clue who “UNCLE GUY” is….in fact, it seems that no one in our family has a clue…but what we do know is that his cookies rock!!!
