Off-Price Myth Busters
Myth: Marshalls and T.J. Maxx carry the same merchandise.
FACT: No! Because the off-price retail model is so flexible, with varying quantities and styles store-to-store, no two stores are ever the same — not even two T.J. Maxx stores. That’s what makes off-price shopping so much fun, and why so many customers shop both stores.
Myth: Marshalls and T.J. Maxx sell irregular or damaged merchandise.
FACT: Marshalls and T.J. Maxx aren’t discount stores – they are off-price retailers who are all about getting great value on brand-name merchandise and passing those savings on to our customers. Discount stores sell lesser-quality merchandise simply to offer a lower price. The merchandise found in T.J. Maxx and Marshalls is first quality, on-trend and in-season. Less than five percent of the merchandise has unnoticeable irregularities
and if irregular, it is clearly noted on the price tag.
Myth: Marshalls and T.J. Maxx only sell clothing from previous fashion seasons.
FACT: Marshalls and T.J. Maxx have the same incredible brand names and styles that are in department and specialty stores right now, but for up to 60 percent less. Because our company owned distribution centers can move merchandise through to the stores so quickly, buyers have the ability to buy merchandise up to the last minute of any given season. And because the buyers aren’t restricted by having to carry the same merchandise in every store, they can buy a large quantity to carry across the chain or just a few pieces for select stores. They also buy non-fashion/trend-driven items (like holiday gift wrap and hosiery) any time of year and pack them away for the appropriate season. In fact, less than 15 percent of merchandise is non-trend driven or past season, and these items are clearly marked as “past-season” on the price tag.
Customers also will see some merchandise that isn’t in department or specialty stores. That’s because off-price buyers travel the world to offer “treasures” to their customers, including gorgeous leather footwear from Italy; luxurious soaps from France; and fine crystal from Germany. All of this high-quality merchandise is priced at great value for our customers.
Myth: Merchandise at Marshalls and T.J. Maxx never really changes. Most is just
leftover merchandise that department stores don’t want.
FACT: T.J. Maxx and Marshalls stores are truly never the same place twice. They offer a continual flow of fresh merchandise; each store receives three to four shipments weekly, totaling more than 10,000 new items each week!
Often, customers find the exact same fashions they’ve just seen at department and mall stores, only at a tremendous savings – adding extra excitement and value appreciation to their shopping trips. Off-price shopping is for passionate people who love the excitement of the hunt – it’s all about smart shopping for designer and brand names at lower prices.
Myth: The buyers at Marshalls and T.J. Maxx don’t really look for quality merchandise –
they look for the cheapest items to sell, just like discount stores.
FACT: Customers who shop Marshalls and T.J. Maxx save money without sacrificing style or quality. T.J. Maxx and Marshalls buyers believe that value isn’t just about price: true value is a combination of fashion, quality, brand and price. All must be present in order for an item to be sold at an off-price retailer. It’s not just about a low price, it’s the exciting top brand or designer you find for that amazing price. That’s real value!
Off-price stores sell brand name and designer merchandise, while discount stores primarily sell private label merchandise. They may offer some designer names, but the difference between the two is in the relative value of the merchandise. For example, a blouse selling at a discount store for $19.99 was manufactured to sell at that price.
At T.J. Maxx or Marshalls, a brand name or designer blouse selling for $19.99 was manufactured to sell for double or even more!

I love to shop. I really and truly do…it is both sad (for my husband) and joyous for me!!! Yeah me!! But and this is a big point…I do not like paying full price for anything! Which is why I have fallen in love with Marshalls and T.J. Maxx.
THey are considered “off-price” retailers and while you might think that means cheap or damaged…you’d be sadly mistaken and you’ll be missing a lot of great deals!!
Take a moment to find a Marshalls near you and give them a visit! Oh! Don’t forget to leave a comment on my Marshall’s 7 day diet post…YOU could win a $100 Gift Card to Marshalls!

California weather is not very extreme. We experience the seasons changing but not like other parts of the country…sometimes the only way you know it is Fall is because women start wearing their boots rather then flip-flips! Totally California cool in this area.
While I like flip-flops and I love boots…I still want to dress fashionably and according to the styles of the season. Take a look around and you’ll see that the clothing displays are offering rich, warm tones, lots of deep greens, warm golds and vibrant rubies…plus it seems that purple is making a bit of a splash as well!
Here’s is a wonderful color palette for the Fall season compliments of Marshalls
