The changing of the seasons is as good an excuse as any for a style overhaul. With spring edging ever closer it’s time to pack away your winter accessories and embrace the trends spring has to offer. The usual looks are all here, florals and flip flops, but there are also some must-have spring accessories you might not expect…
Candy colors are similar to pastel shades, but have a little more oomph. Think croals, dusty blues, and bright yellows. Incorporate this trend into your outfit with a skinny belt. The bright colours add a perfect pop of colour to an outfit, without going overboard.
Cute collars add an instant preppy touch to any look. Sequined collars are great for special occasions and a night out. Don’t be restricted to a plain white design. There are lots of different shapes and styles out there to experiment with. Try a ruffled collar, or one with a bow to make a statement.
Whether it’s on scarves or on umbrellas, paisley is a big trend this spring. If you’re not a fan of the traditional pattern, there are some more toned down options to try. A silk scarf gives a nod to the trend without going overboard. There are also some great paisley pocket squares for men.
It’s all gold everything this spring! From rings to necklaces, gold is the colour of the moment. Don’t panic, you don’t have to go for the real deal. There are plenty of rose gold and gold coloured accessories that are perfect for nailing this trend. Try a gold beaded collar necklace with a shirt/jumper combination for a fashionable office look.
Satchels and Handbags
Spring is all about leather in terms of bags. Be it a woven leather handbag or a smart satchel. Spring outfits can start to look a little kitsch. All the sequins and florals can be overpowering and a leather bag brings some much needed sophistication and weight to a spring look.
You’ll be glad to hear that several catwalks were all championing comfortable footwear this spring! This trend is so wearable, and practical, for a season when it’s warming up. Dolce and Gabbana showcased some simple sandal style flip flops with a thick strap. Christopher Kane also got in on the act, accessorizing a pair of crocs! Hugo Boss and Christian Dior also sent their models down the runway in varying degrees of flip flops, so rest assured it’s going to be a big trend.
Statement earrings were another big trend on the catwalk. Alexander McQueen, Erdem and, Rodarte all chose to go big. Mismatched earring were also spotted at J.W. Anderson and Marni. So take a playful approach to your earrings and go bold.
