Long before I had my own dog I heard the horrors of how expensive it could be to take a dog to the vet. I quickly learned the hard way how true this was! I think a lot of people aren’t even aware of the fact that there is pet insurance available!

It’s one of those things that might seem unecesarry until you actually need it. It’s just like car insurance. You don’t always need it but you sure are greatful when you have it! Recently I noticed our dog Odie has suddenly started gaining weight even though he was eating less. He also seemed lethargic and just off to me. I hesitated taking him in because of the cost but after a while with no improvement I had no choice. It cost around $100 just to be seen and evaluated.

At that point the vet suggested a bunch of tests. Some he thought were more important than others but all might be needed to find out what’s wrong. Once again I was in the position to question costs and have to make decisions based on it. It’s not a fun place to be!

Luckily there is Healthy Paws Pet Insurance®, the number one customer rated pet insurance to cover situations just like this! I know if costs weren’t a factor I would have taken Odie to the vet as soon as I noticed something was wrong instead of waiting. This insurance covers up to 90% of vet bills making your pets health the focus and not the cost! While I do get him his regular shots, I don’t really do regular checkups outside of that and would definitely be more likely to if I knew it wasn’t going to break the bank!

Our dog is a part of our family but the fact remains he is an animal. That doesn’t mean that he doesn’t deserve the best health care possible! Thankfully pet insurance provides the opportunity to care for him the way that I want to!
