So Halloween is over. You and your family have had a barrel load of spooky fun and the kids have gorged themselves on more candy than they could carry. Going into November, it’s hard not to feel like Christmas is right around the corner. Arguably the most important holiday in the Christian calendar, Christmas is a time to remember what’s important. Spending time with the one’s you love and getting ready to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. With that in mind, here are a few Christian family activities to bring you and your loved one’s together as you near the festive period.
Few things bring a family together like sitting around the table playing a board game. This gives you the perfect opportunity for everyone to turn off their gadgets for a while and spend some time enjoying each other’s company. Plenty of games are ideal for the entire family, like Chutes and Ladders or Guess Who, so you’ll have no trouble getting the kid’s involved. There is even a good selection of faith-themed board games that are sure to provide you with some great teaching moments. No matter what you play, this is the perfect way to spend a cold winter evening with the one’s you love
There are few things more cozy and delightful than the whole family squeezing onto the couch to watch a movie together. There are plenty of films that are perfect for the entire family. Providing fun for both kids and adults. There’s even a great selection of Christian movies on Netflix that are sure to give you and your family something to talk about. You can find a list of some of the best here: http://www.netflixupdate.com/christian-movies-netflix/. So get the popcorn popping, curl up under a blanket and turn your home into your very own movie theater.
Wait! You’re probably thinking. How are we supposed to read as a family? Well don’t worry, you’re not going to need to crowd around a single book! Sitting in the living room together as a family and reading can be one of the most peaceful and enjoyable things a family can do. It lets you all enjoy a moment of quiet. If you find a moment in your book that you think your partner or your kids would enjoy, you can read it to them. This can really bring your family together as you talk about what you like and don’t like about your books.
So as the nights start to draw in and the season of getting cozy indoors gets going, make sure you take the chance to enjoy some family time. Life can be hectic, and it’s easy to forget to cherish those little moments. By taking the opportunity to spend some quality family time together, you can remind yourself what’s really important in life. Love, family, and togetherness. Coming together under the love of Jesus Christ to celebrate him, and to celebrate each other.
