Getting Back into a Normal Workout Routine! #UltimateSquat

Now that my kids are back to school and a normal routine, I’m trying to get my routine back! One of the things that always suffers a little over the summer is my workout. Trying to keep the kids entertained and happy I tend to do more outdoor activities where I’m definitely getting exercise but no regular routine.

I tend to gain weight on my lower half and since I have a big butt (I cannot lie) I like to focus on exercises that keep it high and firm! Squats and lunges have always been my go to exercises for this but since they do get tiring, the form tends to get lost.

I was excited to try the Ultimate Squat system because the equipment helps keep the body in line without losing that form. What I didn’t expect was how much more resistance and results I would get!

Included are a bar and the bands that attach to it with hooks and a cute storage bag to store it all in.

It’s easy to put together and when in doubt, there are directions included. You are ready to workout in a matter of minutes.

I really like that you can just stand in a doorway and the the edges roll up and down with you. This keeps you from tipping over or leaning and losing that oh so important form. The foam where you put your hands and neck are really comfortable and cushioned so you don’t have any distractions from unnecessary discomfort or pain.

On the bottom you hook your feet into the rubber loops and you are ready to go! I find it easier to do the feet first and then lift the bar over your head instead of the other way around because of the resistance the bands provide.

I knew the second I did my first squat that this was going to be much harder than a standard squat! Once you are ready you just lean back slightly and keep your legs shoulder width apart and slightly in front of you and squat.

I don’t know if it’s the leaning or the bands but this is much harder than a regular squat! To start I just did three sets of ten reps because it was such a challenge! As the days went by I increased by reps by one until I get to twenty each. My legs are definitely shaking by the end but it’s a good thing! No pain no gain right? You can definitely feel this working!

The lunges work the same way as the squat except that you are stepping one foot forward at a time.

If you need to focus on  your lower half like I do, the Ultimate Squat is an amazing workout and you are definitely using your core as well as your lower body!
