School just got out for the summer so it seems funny to be reading School Time Blessings about going back to school! But it will be time to go back before we know it and reading this book about our favorite Berenstain Bears is a great way to mentally prepare the kids for the coming school year.
Brother and sister bear were ready to go back to school and see their friends and enjoy their sports again. However, as is natural, certain fears also creeped in. It’s normal to have fears for little ones about leaving their parents for the day. Even my six year old daughter who has been in school for three years has days where she cries and says she misses me. It’s all a part of growing up!
For older kids there are fears about certain subjects they may not be good at or other fears like just fitting in and finding their place.
This book addresses all of these things and reminds kids that they are perfectly normal and definitely not alone in their concerns. It also reminds them that whenever they have a fear or concern, they can go to God in prayer. My kids and I pray every night before bed so after we started reading this book, we decided to start praying about the coming school year. It also opened the door for them to talk about their fears.
The end of School Time Blessings has a page with activities and questions which also generate great conversation. It gave my kids some ideas on what to do in the coming school year. The Berenstain Bears once again helped my family through a normal struggle!
About the Book
It’s back-to-school time in Bear Country!
After the long and lazy summer, it’s time for school. Brother and Sister are ready to see their friends and get busy with all of the things they enjoy about school—but are nervous about the more challenging subjects like math and history. And Honey Bear will be going to nursery school for the first time—but how will she handle not being home with Mama and Papa all day?
In this new Berenstain Bear Living Lights book, Mama and Papa Bear remind their cubs that prayer and God’s love are always there to guide them and that they will support them no matter what the challenge.
