I have heard a lot about the Elephant & Piggie books but The Thank you Book is the first I’ve actually read with my kids. It was definitely love at first read.
My older kids at 6 and 8 can read it themselves and they thought it was really funny. With every turn of the page there was laughter! Piggie wants to say thank you to everyone he knows so on each page he thanks a friend.
I love the illustrations and their simplicity. It’s just the characters with no distracting background and my two year old was really drawn to them. Throughout the entire book with every turn of the page and the appearance of a new animal he would ask “what’s that?” It turned into a little lesson on animals and what sounds they make for him.
Most importantly is the message of the book. My parents raised me to always say thank you! I want my kids to get this message loud and clear. What better way to drill it in their little heads than reading it on each page?
Whatever the magic formula of Elephant & Piggie is that has such a draw for kids; I’m thankful! The Thank you Book is a hit with all three of my kiddos!
