Pocket Prayers by Max Lucado #Review @Litfuse @ThomasNelson @MaxLucado

I have always been a huge fan of Max Lucado so I was really excited to see these Pocket Prayers books from him. As a busy mom of three I don’t have a whole lot of time for reading anymore so the idea of 40 prayers in a small book really appealed to me. I can make time for that!

There are six books in the series but I started with Pocket Prayers for Moms since that applied the most to me! I knew this would be something I could relate to when I read the opening lines in the introduction

Hello my name is Max. I’m a recovering prayer wimp.

Now that I can relate to! I’d like to blame my prayer issues on my “mom brain” but honestly it’s something I’ve always struggled with. I send up little one liner prayers all day.

God protect my children.

Thank you for this beautiful day.

Please help my child to sleep through the night tonight!

Those I do all day every day but long, focused prayers are really hard for me. I’m glad to see that I’m not alone and that even someone like Max Lucado struggles with it!

The books all have co-authors and this one is written appropriately by Andrea Lucado as well. While Max is knowledgeable it definitely takes a woman to understand motherhood and that she does! The prayers all start with a Bible verse and then a short prayer that spoke exactly what my heart feels!

When I say “short” they aren’t like my one liners but they are just a page. There’s more depth than mine for sure!

These prayers are great little uplifters throughout the day and sometimes when I just need a moment to reflect I pull it out and read a prayer and then ad my own to it specific to me.

When I am finished I plan to give it to my MOPS group since there are always door prizes and this would be a great one! I’m also going to donate my Pocket Prayers for Friends as well.

My oldest nephew just joined the Navy this year and he’s currently in training out of state away from his family for the first time. I’m going to send him Pocket Prayers for Military Life as encouragement

I’ll save Pocket Prayers for Dads for my husband for fathers day this year, Pocket Prayers for Teachers for my daughters teacher that I know is a Christian and Pocket Prayers for Graduates for whoever the next graduate I know is!

As you can see there’s a Pocket Prayer for everyone and these would make a wonderful gift of encouragement for anyone!
