The first time I heard about this legend was reading The Legend of the Easter Robin. It is such a beautiful story I can’t believe I never heard it before! What a truly unique Easter story this is and that’s hard to accomplish anymore!
My kids know the true meaning of Easter and the story behind it but this is a really original perspective and way to look at things. I love how it ties into the fun of decorating Easter eggs so that they can see it’s ok to have fun traditions, as long as they remember the real reason for celebration.
Christ’s blood was shed for us and that’s something that’s really hard for kids to wrap their brains around. The red on the robin’s chest is a beautiful symbolism for this and one takes away a little bit of the fear kids have when they hear about blood. It makes it the beautiful thing that it is instead of something to be feared.
The illustrations are absolutely beautiful. Each one is like a little masterpiece with so much detail and attention to detail. I really felt a part of the story. The robin especially is so expressive you can see and feel its emotions.
The end of the book has a page on explaining the origin of The Legend of the Easter Robin which is really helpful in gaining a deeper understanding, even for me! What a beautiful gift to give and receive this Easter to recognize and remember the greatest gift ever given!
