Exercise Your Body

Volleyball takes flexibility, strength, agility, and endurance, so you’re going to have to get yourself into great shape to be a contender on the court.

Flexibility: To get your muscles ready to flex and move quickly on the court, stretch them out with yoga moves such as salute-to-the-sun, child pose, and warrior poses. Perform each yoga move ten times each day, and you’ll be on your way toward volleyball excellence.
Strength: You have to be strong to run around the court and hit the ball where you want it to go. To enhance your strength, work out with weights, and do push-ups, yoga side planks, and sit-ups every other day.
Agility: Volleyball players have to be fast, so practice sprinting, jumping, and hitting the ball against a wall as quickly as you can.
Endurance:  Cardio workouts can boost your endurance, so get your heartbeat moving for twenty minutes to an hour each day. Jogging, swimming, and cycling can boost your endurance, so go for it!

Pump Up Your Attitude

Coaches look for team players with great attitudes, so make sure yours is shining. People skills are hugely important while on the court playing volleyball, so make sure you:

Cheer for teammates.
Watch the game and show some noisy, joyful enthusiasm.
Give high fives to others whenever possible.
Amp up your positive comments and squelch any negative ones.
Be respectful to everyone.
Take constructive criticism with a smile.

Practice Basic Skills

No matter whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player, you’re going to need the basic skills, so practice:

Passing
Serving
Hitting
Being hustle-proof

Gather Your Gear

Along with having a well-toned body and great attitude, you’re going to need the right gear to play. You’ll need:

T-Shirts and volleyball shorts that are comfortable and colorful
Volleyball shoes
Knee pads
Ankle supports

With these tips, you’ll not only have a killer volleyball season, you’ll ensure your body is performing at its best.
