There are two more titles available from the I Can Read Adventure Bible Series and my kids devoured them both! The Good Samaritan and Ruth and Naomi are both Step 2 and my second grader read them to my first grader for their required reading.
Learning to read is such an exciting time for my kids and I love that they are close enough in age that they can share this time together. We do nightly devotions and required reading for school so I combine these two things whenever possible!
The I Can Read series is something I will scoop up every time I see it because it knows, even better than I, what my child should be able to read! It’s so hard to pick up different books and have to flip through them to gage if my kids are ready for them. With the Step books I don’t have to. It’s already done for me.
These two Bible stories aren’t necessarily the top popular ones so my kids actually didn’t know them, or remember hearing them before. It was nice to dig deep into each story and go into the details of them.
Paige really connected with Ruth and Naomi as a girl since there aren’t as many women in the Bible as men. We always jump on these stories whenever we have the opportunity.
The story of The Good Samaritan is one I want my kids to know and LIVE out. I had them give examples of how they could be good samaritan’s in today’s world.
About the Book
The Good Samaritan
Ever wonder why they called him the “Good” Samaritan? Find out why in this level 2 I Can Read, written in the tradition of the popular Adventure Bible.
Jewish people and the Samaritans were enemies … they would never have considered helping one another. So what happens when a Jew is robbed, and left on the side of the road to die? Who stops to help? Read as Jesus tells a remarkable story about a man who serves his neighbor as God would want. Perfect for beginning readers ages 4-8, learning Bible stories on their own.
Ruth and Naomi
In this retelling of the Old Testament story of Ruth and Naomi, young readers learn about the loving kindness of people for one another and the loving influence of God in their lives. When Ruth decides to follow her mother-in-law to a strange land, after the death of her husband, she proves her dedication to family and God.
Written in the I Can Read level 2, this story shows how love and honor are rewarded by God with great gifts, like Ruth meeting Boaz and being part of establishing the line of King David. Perfect for beginning readers ages 4-8, learning Bible stories on their own.
