As a mom, finding the time to exercise can be tricky, especially when you are the primary caregiver. Let’s be honest, even going to the grocery store is a struggle with a little one on your hip, let alone getting out the house to exercise.
However, while it might seem impossible to exercise when you have a baby, it is doable. Just because you have a little one, don’t let that hold you back when it comes to exercise. There are lots of ways you can make exercising easier for yourself.
To help you get to grips with finding the time to exercise, here are a few tips and ideas that should help:
Schedule exercise into your week
Every Sunday night, sit down and find ways to schedule exercise sessions into your week. It might seem impossible, but these sessions don’t have to be too long, they can be as short as 10 minutes or as long as 60.
If, for instance, you are a stay-at-home mom who has a toddler, perhaps you could fit exercise in while your little one is napping? Perhaps you could do an exercise DVD while your little one rests? If you are on a diet, such as the Venus Factor secret herb diet, maybe you could do the matching workout?
Go to a mom and baby exercise class
Fitness instructors know that moms can’t leave their babies, that’s why there are lots of mom and child classes. The best thing about these classes is that most of them are held outside, so that your little one can explore while you exercise.
From Pilates and yoga to fitness workouts, there are various mom and baby workouts available to choose from. So whatever type of exercise you want to do, you should be able to find a suitable class.
Workout at the park
Take your little one to the park and while they play, use the equipment in the park to exercise. The benches can be used for doing step ups and push-ups, or you could jog on the spot or practice yoga – there are so many options.
Organize a fitness play date
Get a bunch of your mommy friends together for a fitness play date – while the kids play, you workout. Okay, so it might not go as well as a fitness class, but it will be a lot more fun.
While you could workout in someone’s garden, you could also go for a group bike ride. You could put the kids in child seats or in trailers, and go for a cycling session together, or why not take the kids on a hike? As long as you are getting out and about and exercising, it doesn’t matter.
While finding the time to exercise as a mom is more difficult that before you have a child, it is still doable. While it can sometimes feel impossible, there are plenty of ways you can exercise when you have a toddler to care for.
