Tattered and Mended by Cynthia Ruchti #BookReview & Reclaimed Treasures #Giveaway

unnamed-21

We all have pieces of of us that have broken and need mending. Sometimes we feel that we will never be whole again. How do we get there? How do we mend? Cynthia Ruchti helps us get there in Tattered and Mended.

One of the things I’ve always appreciated about Ruchti is her authenticity as an author and the way that reaches out to those that are broken because she can relate. In her intro she says that she’s not writing for theologians but for the everyday person who is struggling in their faith, healing from a broken heart or just longing for healing. This is someone that I can relate to.

I like the overall theme in the book and that she relates our brokenness to things that are tangible like art that has been restored or stain glass that has been broken and fixed. Her point is that broken things can be made whole again and usually come out even more beautiful and wonderfully made than how they began. I know that when I have come to the other side of a great storm in life, I come out feeling stronger. Life’s obstacles can knock us down but we don’t have to lay down and take it.

Often times it’s easy to say these things but living them is another. This book is a great tool in the how of it all. How do you get up? How do you move on? God takes our broken pieces and puts them back together again. Tattered and Mended gave me hope, encouragement and peace.
