Last month I started using doTerra essential oils for the first time. I shared my experience using the Peppermint oil here. A self proclaimed skeptic, I was pleasantly surprised with the whole experience.
Since I got the Introductory Kit, I had three of the main oils to start with. For this past month I have been using the Lavender.
First Impressions on the Kit
First impressions really can be everything! This kit was smaller than I expected in size but was really cute and had pretty Lavender flowers decorating the outside which gave it that feminine look but also makes it perfect for gift giving!
When I opened it up, I was really impressed that it had a breakdown of what each of the three oils was used for. This is a perfect reference guide and located exactly where you need it so you don’t have to hunt for it!
I decided to try a few different things right off the bat after reading the descriptions. For this segment, I’ll talk about the Lavender.
Lavender has always been one of my favorite scents in the world. I love the smell! It just has a relaxing, calming effect on me. It smells like spring and that automatically makes me happy! I always choose it when I’m buying things like lotion.
When I opened the bottle to take a smell, however, it didn’t smell like I was expecting it to. In this concentrated form it doesn’t have the same smell I was used to. When I put it in the humidifier that diffuses that I got, it did come out smelling the way that I remember it to smell like.
While reading the information on it, there seems to be a lot of skin benefits from using it.
Use of Lavender
Some of the uses include:
- skin benefits
I recognize this smell from my favorite spa so I do relate it to a calming experience. I did some of the suggestions that came with it including putting on my new memory foam pillow to breathe in the scent and relax at night and using with bath salts for a spa like experience in the tub!
Some of the skin benefits included calming a bee sting or bug bite (which I haven’t had to try yet but will when I have to), applying to chapped lips before lip balm and adding to lotion for a hand massages. I tried the lips and lotions and really liked what they added!
I like the Lavender a lot and plan on keeping it on hand for things like bug bites and other skin irritations as these seem to be quite common with children, especially in the coming months. I like diffusing it and having the smell in my home. It helps me to have a calmer mentality since I associate the smell with peace and calm. Hopefully it has the same effect on my children!
I think this Introductory Kit would make a great gift for anyone you know that has been wanting to try the oils but doesn’t know where to begin. It contains the three most popular and widely used and is packaged already as the perfect gift!
