How Many Times do I Have to Tell You? By Rachael Carman #Review @RachaelCarman #RachaelCarman

This is one of those phrases I heard a million times growing up that I swore I would never repeat, until….I became a parent! How Many Times do I Have to Tell You is now a common phrase in my house because I get it; I finally get it!

One of the most frustrating parts of parenthood is having to repeat yourself over and over and over again. Why won’t they just listen? Why do we have to repeat ourselves? Much like our own children, we don’t always listen to the voice of God. Sure we know what we are supposed to do and he’s given us all we need to do it. But do we always listen? Nope!

Carman explores this in her latest book that reminds me of a devotional of sorts. It’s broken down into small chapters with personal stories and a connection to God’s word. I love the end of each chapter where she challenges you by asking questions and applying the principles to your own life.

Each chapter has a creative title of something most of us have said, or repeated, to our kids on many occasions. Examples include “What are you supposed to be doing?” and “Pay Attention.” We have all been there and Carman has been there with her seven children!

Her personal stories take hold and make a deep connection and leave you hanging on her every word. The moments of introspection make you do just that. How Many Times Do I Have to Tell you will have you laughing at times and moved to tears at others; much like being a parent!

About the Book

How Many Times Do I Have to Tell You? (Apologia Educational Ministries, September 2014)

You’ve probably said these things to your kids, but have you listened to what you’re saying?

“I remember the day you were born.”

“Turn down the music!”

“This is going to hurt me more than it’s going to hurt you.”

“Hold my hand.”

Your heavenly Father wants to tell you many of these same things. Rachael Carman knows how noisy it can be when you’re raising children—she has seven! But this lovely devotional book will help you to hear God’s still, small voice amid the chaos of carpools, cut fingers, and carpet crawlers. You’ll learn how to recognize God’s instructions for you, even as you seek to follow His example as a parent.
