Twisted Innocence by Terri Blackstock Kept me Guessing! #Review and Nook #Giveaway @TerriBlackstock #TBlackstock

My Thoughts

I am sad to see the Moonlighters trilogy come to an end but I was also super excited to read this book! She has a fan in me and I really look forward to anything she writes, especially this one!

Twisted Innocence continues with the same cast of characters but this time with emphasis on a different one: Holly Cramer. Holly has been a screw up most of her life but the only thing that could possibly change her has done just that: her daughter. When she starts behaving strangely again, her sisters initially think the old Holly is making a comeback. As it turns out, that might have been the lesser of two evils.

This book got off to a slower start for me than the other two and there’s a lot of jumping around where you’re trying to connect how everyone is related in the first few chapters. I had a harder time settling in to this book and trying to remember who everyone was and what their role was. I think it’s helpful to go back and read previous reviews first or at least the back cover to jog your memory. However, even if you haven’t read the first two, this book can be read as a stand alone.

Once I got into it after the first few chapters, I couldn’t put it down, just like the first two in the series. The suspense did arise and keep me guessing about what was going to happen. In truck Blackstock form there are twists and turns with Holly’s baby’s father having a connection to the bad guy in the previous stories; Leonard Miller. This is where it definitely gets more interesting! Miller has shot several members of Holly’s family so it becomes even more personal for her.

Will they finally catch the killer? What will happen with Holly and her baby’s father? All questions are finally answered in a dramatic conclusion to the trilogy in Twisted Innocence!

About the Book

Holly Cramer’s past choices have finally caught up to her, but she never expected them to endanger her baby.

Though Holly’s stumbled through most of her adult life as a party girl, she longs to live a more stable life for her daughter. Then police show up to question her about the whereabouts of Creed Kershaw, Lily’s father. She has kept his identity a secret from friends and family—she never even told him about the pregnancy. Now he’s a person of interest in a drug-related murder case.

Determined to keep him out of their lives and turn him over to police, Holly uses her private investigating skills to search for him. But her bravado backfires when he turns the tables and takes her and the baby hostage. As desperate hours tick by, Holly realizes his connection to Leonard Miller—the man who has gunned down several members of her family. Creed claims he’s innocent and that Miller is after him too. His gentleness with Lily moves her, but she can’t trust a man who has held her at gunpoint . . . even if he reminds her so much of herself.

Dangers old and new threaten Holly and her baby, and lives are demanded as sacrifices for love. Through a complex web of mistakes and regret, redemption is the one hope Holly has left to hold on to.
