My Thoughts

I have seen a lot about Younique in my newsfeed lately and I have to admit my curiosity was piqued! I saw pics of my friends with these pimped out eyelashes! I honestly thought they were just fake eyelashes before I tried it myself. Wait, you mean I can have those lashes without putting on falsies? Tell me more!

The picture above is of my beautiful friend Nikki and the top one is her without mascara, the middle with her old mascara and the bottom with Younique. This is the picture that made me think I needed to try it!  I have always had self proclaimed puny eyelashes. There’s just not a whole lot to them. Here’s a shot of my naked eyes. It almost looks like I don’t even have eyelashes they are so puny!

First Impressions

I tried the Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes kit since it has to be their best selling for a reason! I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect but my first impression was surprise!

First of all, it came in this beautiful case that gave it such a professional, high end look. Does that guarantee that the product itself is great? Of course not but generally, if a company cares this much about the presentation of their product it’s because they care even  more about the product itself.

YouTube Help!

I wasn’t sure exactly what fiber lashes even meant so I checked out some YouTube videos first. I thought it was helpful to watch a few different ones because everyone has a slightly different technique and tips on what they’ve learned.

Younique 3D Fiber Mascara

Huge Lash How To

Keep it Simple

After watching these videos I realized it was a lot simpler of a process than I was making it out to be in my head. I started out very subtle because I didn’t know how it would look. After playing with it for a couple weeks I’ve figured out exactly how much to put on to get the look I want.

I’m a stay at home mom and I don’t wear a lot of makeup. But mascara is something that can be dramatically effective for making your eyes pop without having to wear a ton of other makeup. How do you Apply?

I only use one coat and that’s enough for me. The steps are super easy.

  1. Apply the gel like you would your normal mascara.
  2. Apply the fibers immediately after the gel and let it dry for about a minute.
  3. Add another layer of gel to seal in the fibers.
  4. Repeat if you want more or you’re done!

There is a little bit of a learning curve to it and I have done dumb things like get those fibers in my eyes and yes, it did hurt. But like anything else you get used to it and don’t do the dumb things anymore! Well, except on the days when the baby woke up at two am and your eyes are barely open but for the most part; an art you can master.

Washing it Off

Another thing I was really surprised about and impressed with is how easily it washed off. I seriously hate washing off mascara. No matter what I used, I have raccoon eyes in the morning. I can never get it all off. Now I’m not saying this came completely off. I had slight residue left in the morning. BUT when I went to put it on, there was nothing left on my lashes. Ever have that clumpy thick, sticky mascara left on the next day when you go to re-apply? This doesn’t do that. And it washes off with soap and water.

The Bottom Line: Pricing

I have to say I was really surprised at the price. Whenever I am doing a review for something, I like to try it out before I do any reading on it or look at the price because I want an unbiased opinion formed. Then I go back, do more research and check out the price etc.

I like to play a guessing game with myself and see how close I am. A lot of times this is the determining factor on whether or not I buy it again.

Based on the fact that this is hugely popular, comes in an expensive looking case and lasts for three months; I guessed the price to be $59.00. I pay $8.00 for the cheap crappy stuff at the drugstore and have to buy it at least once a month. When I looked at the price of this, I was shocked to see it was $29! Oh I love pleasant surprises because it usually goes the other way!

Have I bought it again? Not yet. I’ve only had a couple of weeks and since I only wear makeup a couple times a week this will probably last me six months! But I will! This is one of those products that you try and you can’t go back. Once you go Younique, you can’t go back to weak. Ok that was weak. I need to think of a better catch phrase but seriously folks, love, love love it!

What if You Don’t Love it?

This company also has a money back guarantee? Why? Because they KNOW that once you try it, you will love it. But if for some reason you don’t, you have two weeks to return it for a full refund. That’s a guarantee of confidence.

My Conclusion

If you have weak puny lashes like me or just love makeup and want to look like you have crazy long lashes without gluing something to your eye, check out Younique. If you know me, you know I don’t wear a lot of makeup and I definitely don’t get excited about it so my rave review says a lot about the product!
