My Thoughts
Ah, summertime! Swimming pools and beach towels, farmer’s markets and fresh garden produce, barbecues with friends, what’s not to love? Well, okay, maybe the heat, but there are plenty of ways to cool off. One of my family’s favorite ways to cool off is with a nice, cold dessert, preferably some kind of ice cream, and I bet your family is the same way!
I just picked up a magazine called Frozen Delights that is full of recipes that will help you to cool off on those hot summer nights. It features 101 recipes for popsicles, ice cream treats, and smoothies. My daughter and I flipped through Frozen Delights magazine and marked the pages of the recipes we want to try. Actually, she wanted to mark almost every single page! I told her we could pick just one to do this week, and would try out the others another time.
We decided to make the Ice Cream Sandwich Cake. It was so easy! My daughter was practically jumping up and down while I was putting it together. She was so excited and couldn’t wait to eat it! Of course, I made her wait until after dinner when Dad would be home to enjoy it too. I’m happy to report that it did not disappoint, it was delicious!
Now my daughter wants to know what recipe from Frozen Delights we are going to make next. We have quite a list: Cheesecake Lollipops, Buttered Berry Sundaes, Blackberry Syrup Topping, Chocolate Profiteroles, Melon Granitas, and the list goes on and on and on. I think this magazine is going to get a lot of use this summer. Here’s to keeping cool in the yummiest way possible!
