Praying God’s Word for Your Husband by Kathi Lipp (Review)

Place your husband in God’s hands

Are you ready to see God move in big ways in your husband’s life, your life, and your marriage?

Many wives approach prayer as a checklist, something that has to be done in order to carry the “Good Girl Christian” card. But with this accessible guide, prayer can feel about as natural as breathing. The reason: the Word of God itself becomes your prayer.

With warmth and wit, Kathi Lipp shows you not only what a blessing it is to pray boldly for your husband but also the amazing differences you’ll see–in him and in yourself–as you pray in full confidence of seeing God-sized results. Kathi directs you to Scripture, showing you how to pray God’s Word in every part of your husband’s life, including his

  • career and finances
  • parenting
  • relationships with God and others
  • emotional health
  • safety
  • future

She shows you how to establish a routine, pick a special spot for prayer, focus your mind, prepare your heart, and even partner with other women in prayer. With Kathi’s biblical direction, engaging personal stories, and encouragement, you can start making a difference in your husband’s life today.

My Thoughts

Reading Kathi Lipp’s book is like sitting down with a friend that has been there. She understands all that you are talking about and even better…what you are thinking but not talking about.

Praying God’s Word for Your Husband is a wonderful book that all women, especially bible study leaders, should read and re-read.
The book opens up with a “Husband’s Insight” with a great commentary and introduction from her husband. It was refreshing to hear from a man’s perspective how “knowing” his wife is praying for him…affects his daily life.

As a woman I often don’t take time to realize how much I influence my husband or how much my prayers may affect his life.

In addition to her husband’s input…Kathi has created the first chapter to discuss routine and the various things we should have at hand to create a welcoming spot where we can spend time with God and pray for our spouses.

After these two sections their are a couple of chapters that refer to preparing your heart and the reasoning behind the importance of prayer. Then the book is basically divided into various themes or topics that generally deal with a husband’s needs in life. Topics such as employment, work issues, when he feels inadequate or overwhelmed.

One point that Kathi makes is that while it’s important to have a routine of prayer and not just a check list…it is of the utmost importance to realize the power of praying scripture back to our God and to be unashamed when we have moments of “emergencies” and have to go directly to a specific chapter.

Overall this was a great book and valuable resource for prayer warriors, bible study leaders and your everyday wife, like me.  We are all of value and can be used to bless and protect our husbands.
