It’s that time of year again!

Time for Donor’s Choose.org to gather us together and promote some of the greatest unsung heroes..our teachers.

As a home school mom…I have come to have an incredible respect for our teachers. They need, deserve and crave our help, support and assistance.

I have a lot of friends that are teachers and I have seen, first hand, the difficulties they have had with their jobs, classrooms and students. I am all for being there and helping as much as I can.

SONIC and Donors Choose.org are continuing to work together to support public school classrooms. Last year, SONIC donated more than $600,000. By October, SONIC customers, friends and fans will have directed more than $1 million dollars to support teachers in local communities across the country. Excitingly enough I was able to find a school in my area!!! In fact, I have driven by the school numerous times. Now! That is helping my community.

I love Sonics. Their delicious Limeaides, Coney Dogs and scrumptious nuggets make a very happy IE Family but I love them more because they are willing to help communities and the teachers within those communities. Their love for learning and for teachers is apparent which makes me an avid fan.

DonorsChoose.org has 100’s of schools, teachers and programs in dire need of help. We aren’t talking “large fancy” needs…some of these teachers just need books, ink cartridges, coloring pencils…the basics. Many are from poverty schools where the funds just aren’t there.

There is no purchase required. Anyone with a valid e-mail address can vote once a day for their favorite teacher’s project. There are a lot of ways to share projects and spread the word this year, too.

Finally, SONIC will unlock an additional week of voting and an extra $100,000 donation if we reach 1 million votes by 9/30, so we’re encouraging everyone to vote early and often!

DonorsChoose.org is an online charity that makes it easy for anyone to help students in need.Here’s how it works: public school teachers from every corner of America post classroom project requests on DonorsChoose.org. Requests range from pencils for a poetry writing unit, to violins for a school recital, to microscope slides for a biology class.

Then, you can browse project requests and give any amount to the one that inspires you. Once a project reaches its funding goal, we deliver the materials to the school.

You’ll get photos of your project taking place, a thank-you letter from the teacher, and a cost report showing how each dollar was spent. If you give over $100, you’ll also receive hand-written thank-you letters from the students.
