My girls are extremely creative and articulate. They love to tell you stores, act out plays and can create an imagination play scenario that will leave the best playwright in awe. I kid you not. My girls have imagination abilities in spades.

So…when I learned of Pearl Cards…I thought what a great tool to use during school and those long waiting times like at the dentist’s office and when we are out to dinner.

I was not disappointed. Pearl Cards are a deck of 50 cards with beautiful, vibrant, interesting and varied photos. Some cards are actual photographs while others are representations of artwork or people. Either way they are dynamic visuals.

The game is easy to play. Simple enough to children to grasp and entertaining enough for adults to be amused and involved. Believe it or not…it was I…that had the hardest time allowing my imagination to flow.family300x200

The rules of the game are as follows:

  • Deal out three cards to each player.
  • The first player picks one of his or her cards and begins to tell a story, using some element of the image on the card in the story.
  • The next player continues the story, picking a card from his or her hand, using it to tell the next bit of the story.
  • After each turn, the player picks a new card, so that everybody always has three cards in his or her hand.
  • Each player’s part of the story can be any length, but if you’re playing with children, it might be good to establish a rhythm of short, to-the-point turns. That’s it! 1-2-3 you have your child(ren) entertained and engaged. They are exercising their imaginations and you are spending quality time with your family.  It’s a great tool to get us into the mindset of school each day as well.

Pick up a set of Pearl Cards … keep them in your car or purse. It’s never the wrong time to exercise your brain and allow your imagination to soar!
