Cute! We love this CD and give it a two thumbs up from each of us…which would really be 6 thumbs up…but well, that just sounds dumb. So TWO THUMBS from the IE Mommy!
Bari Koral Family Rock Band has quickly become the twins’ favorite CD. We listened to it throughout the Christmas Holiday while running errands. The #1 Track - Hey Ducky became an instant hit as well as the Backpack Song and the Best Friends song. Which the IE Twins and I declared would be our BFF anthem. I love the fact that they still include me in that “best friend” group.
Each of the tracks on the Rock & Roll Garden CD is lighthearted, easy to follow and understand and very catchy. Just this morning while ironing…I found myself humming the songs. What can I say? They are catchy and stay in my head.
As a mom I have purchased numerous “For Kids” CDs only to be disappointed by the mind numbing tunes or the Oh so boring lyrics. I mean…really, I want to entertain my children while out and about not put them to sleep out of boredom. So I am always a little bit timid when testing a new CD. You know the saying..”Once burned, twice shy”.
Well! Hear me ladies, gents, moms and dads…This is a fun, entertaining, lively and enjoyable CD that the ENTIRE family will be humming along too. When the IE Daddy starts strumming his fingers to “Clap It” then you definitely know you have great music!
The CD doesn’t debut till January 12th but you can purchase an advance copy at Amazon.com. Start the New Year off with a song in your heart…a song from Rock and Roll Garden!
Acclaimed singer/songwriter Bari Koral has joined forces with some of the best players on the downtown NYC music scene to bring you the Bari Koral Family Band – rock songs for kids that parents dig.
Kids can ride airplanes, drive cars, play in a rock and roll band, ride the waves and dance all day in this high energy show for the whole family.
“Dad’s New Car” from their highly acclaimed debut CD is a Children’s Music Award Finalist and “A Day at the Beach” spent 4 months on XM KIDS’ top 10 list.
With influences ranging from Blondie to the Hokey Pokey, many say this band is making some of the best children’s music out there today. Bari also teaches 15 music & movement songs per week based on her popular songs for children.
Bari and band have been featured in Time Out Kids, NY Daily News, NY Post, NY 1 NEWS and FOX News.
New York Magazine recently called singer/songwriter Bari Koral The IT girl in kids’/family music … think Norah Jones with a smidge of honkey tonk. Before entering the world of children’s music, Bari spent the better part of eight years as a top grossing folk/pop singer on the college circuit. Frequently compared to such artists as Jewel, Norah Jones and Joan Osborne (and sometimes appearing with them), Bari loved performing, yet, over time, grew tired of life on the road away from her family. She knew she needed to make a change, but was unsure how to support herself as a working musician in New York.
Happily, Bari’s next step soon appeared. Just for fun, she started performing at the Long Island Children’s Museum near her hometown, writing songs on the fly with children in the audience. John Medeski of Medeski Martin & Wood, who had just released his own children’s album, heard one of these songs and suggested that Bari try writing music specifically for children. He gave her the keys to his cabin – literally – and she wrote six songs in Woodstock, NY during a single week. Many of these would become part of the Bari Koral Family Rock Band’s eponymously titled 2007 debut EP — an album that definitely made its mark in the kids’ music world. The song “Dad’s New Car” was honored as a Children’s Music Web Award finalist, and the band’s biggest hit, “A Day at the Beach,” spent four months on Sirius/XM Radio’s Kids Place Live Top 10 List. Tracks from the EP have been played more than 20,000 times on Sirius/XM Radio.
Bari Koral is will release her first full-length kids’ CD, Rock and Roll Garden, on January 12.
